I bought a Stearns & Foster king firm mattress, and it gave be backaches for 3 nights. You can't just take a mattress back, so I was considering exchanging for a Dr. Breus mattress, but that would have hit me up for $1600 more with no guarantee it wouldn't hurt my back as well. So I started researching mattress pads and toppers. Originally ordered memory foam, but concerns about chemicals and toxins caused me to send it back before use. Then I read about latex mattress toppers and that made more sense. Found out via research and other great reviews that the cheaper latex toppers can be mixed with some memory form or other not so healthy materials. (I have been researching how chemicals in mattress for fireproofing and such are very toxic and are the hidden source of many of our health problems). I'd never been fully comfortable on the 3" topper, so I thought perhaps one slightly less deep might be better. It arrived promptly and in excellent condition, with a very nice cover too. The foam did have a noticeable, but not overpowering, smell at first. I let it air out for a few hours, then put the cover on. (I probably should have let it air out longer--maybe a day or two--but it all worked out anyway.) I slept on this new pad for about a week, and it did seem slightly better than the old 3" one I'd been on. Then one night I needed to make a "spare" bed, so I put both pads on the floor, making a 5" topper "mattress." To my surprise, it was great--more comfortable than either topper alone had been, even on a hard floor! When I returned to my "real" bed, I put both pads on top of it. We had a hard time deciding exactly what she needed for comfortable sleep, and finally decided on purchasing a firm mattress without a lot of extra padding, and the toppers separately.
This 2" topper,along with a 2" memory foam topper, works perfectly to help relieve some of her joint pain and stiffness, while still giving the firm support she needs.
The product arrived on time and as advertised. The size is correct for her bed, and we did air it out for a couple days prior to placing it on the bed as other customers have. The zippered cover was a little hard to get on, but made it much easier to move around when placing it on the mattress. The only reason I give this product 4 stars rather than 5 is because although only full sized, it has a glue seam right down the middle of where someone would sleep if two people were in the bed.
